Inspiration
For the past few days I have been at our church’s annual women’s conference called
COLOUR and it has been amazing. I am inspired by the vision that God is outworking through our pastors and teachers, I am inspired by the messages we heard, and I am inspired by the example of these women leaders who were gracious, Godly, vital and loving. Thank you God for the blessing our leaders are.
One thing that stood out strongly for me was the prophetic, visionary aspect. There are many references in Scripture about the significance of what we say. That our words carry creative power – for life or for death Proverbs 18:21 says. The most compelling picture of this for me is reflected in the creation account where God spoke and the natural world was manifest. Creation was preceded by God’s words. Another example is where God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy and speak His Word to the dry bones in the valley, and as Ezekiel did this, life was restored before his eyes.
Our pastors spoke words of life over us as a company of women, as God’s daughters. Compelling words like ‘beautiful,’ ‘adored,’ ‘entrusted’ to describe each of us in God’s sight. Compelling concepts were also spoken of such as ‘a revolution in value’ and in particular, value placed upon womanhood in God’s sight. It impacted me so much because of the brokenness and hurt and mistreatment experienced by so many people. To get hold of the idea of a ‘revolution’ stirring within the Church with the goal of restoring a sense of value within people’s lives, and value upon womanhood, was inspiring and beautiful.
In places of poverty, violence and despair for example, we as the Church can express the promise of hope in God and work practically in the ways that God reveals. Where people carry pain and regret and believe they are invisible, we as the Church have the answer of a God who loves them infinitely, and has the power to heal and to change their lives as they love Him.
It is a blessing to take part in a conference like COLOUR, to be with friends who love God, and to be inspired to get closer to Him. You come away with a sense of newness in your faith, and a resolve to love Him more.
