Sky at Dawn

This was the Saturday morning sky I mentioned in the last post. It was dawn and the whole sky was filled with clouds all lit up and fiery. In real life it was quite dramatic, but this gives some idea at least.

This last weekend we had a fantastic time away with friends on the south coast in Kent. It is so amazing the way God works. We were supposed to be staying with some dear friends who pastor a church there. At the last minute we heard that we would be staying with the associate pastor, Cyril, another wonderful friend. That was all good.

I was making the bed the day we were leaving and I was curious about the change in plan and I felt the Holy Spirit say, “Trust Me.”

Cyril is in his seventies and is passionate about God and about the uncompromised Word of God. He is such a blessing, and as we walked into his little home by the sea, the presence of God was tangible and welcoming in that place. This might sound funny, but it seems that some Christian homes even have a kind of beautiful fragrance that I have come to associate with the Holy Spirit.

Anyway, that night we had such a great time together with the church having a party for ‘Bonfire Night’ with fireworks and hotdogs and special toffee. Afterwards we went home with Cyril and we talked into the night about God. We opened the Bible and were so incredibly blessed by his wisdom and passion.

The next morning at church, dear Rob the pastor, opened up a time of us sharing experiences of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Cyril stood in his pew, and we were so struck by what he said.

Exactly one year ago to the day, Cyril’s beautiful wife, Julie, had passed away. Cyril lives by himself now but for this one weekend, this one night, he did not want to be by himself. Without saying a word to anyone else, he came before God and asked the Lord to send people who love Jesus to spend that one night with him. He even asked that we would all open up the Bible and talk about God things!

God in His absolute sovereignty and perfect love, orchestrated it so that at the last minute there would be a change in plan, and in doing so, fulfil the desire of Cyril’s heart, and bless us beyond measure.

Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Psalm 150:2

  3. He really is a God of the mege details as well as the details we would think too embarrassed to ask Him about. He truly is a personal God, and God bless you for being obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. It takes spending quality time with Him to be able to discern His voice. Wow!! xxx Laura

  4. you are very sweet sharing this cyral is true miricale and a very precious spiritual dad he has lifted my spirit so many timesand lifted me in prayer at the drop of a hat

  5. Today, whilst mulling over thoughts and scriptures as I prepare a sermon I have munched my way through a 1/3 of a pot of organic drinking chocolate. My excuse is that I am preoccupied, consumed by my God who sees me, who knows where I have come from and where I am going! What comfort it is to know that He is all seeing, all knowing and that I can walk around in His love bubble and kisses! x
