Jesus and His Mother

I have to keep posting these amazing videos I see on You Tube about Jesus. Being confronted by Him in this way really impacts me and I always feel to share it here. I love Him. This footage from The Passion of the Christ has been set to ‘My Immortal’ by Evanescence, which is also beautiful. It captures the relationship between Jesus and His mother, Mary, blessed among women Luke 1:28. It captures the tenderness of a mother’s love for her Son, listen to the words too. The anguish and torment she must have experienced, seeing the sacrifice of her Son.

It captures Jesus’ humanity. There is no one like Him. It is so hard to put into words.

One thing that distinguishes our God is that Jesus is as alive right now as He was when He was a man. He is not historical. He is not just a good teacher. He is God, and as He died and bled to atone for my sin and gift to me eternal life, He is alive now. He was resurrected from His death and lives again, eternally. I will testify to His reality as long as He gives me breath in my body. Our God is the God who lives. Ask Him to show Himself to you. He is as alive now as He was in the scenes this footage depicts.

One last thing I wanted to pick up on is the scene where Jesus carries the cross to His death through the crowds. Satan slinks along beside, eye-balling Mary, who holds his gaze. It so perfectly captures the enmity that God brought between Satan and the woman in Genesis. “And I will put enmity between you (Satan) and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed (Jesus). He shall bruise your head. And you shall bruise His heel” Genesis 3:15

…. And the resurrection scene at the end … Jesus is alive. I love You …. You still have all of me.

  1. Just magical. I’ve not yet been able to bring myself to watch “The Passion” as when pregnant or breastfeeding the hormones just leave me too traumatized! I should see it now though, no excuse. Loved the last few posts too, good on you Birgit GB.

  2. Hi dear Birgit…this is a beautiful movie of the salvation prayer, from God tube, hope you can get it.
    love in Jesus!

  3. Dear Ruth and Rosalind, thank you both for your lovely comments. Ruth, I know what you mean about being deeply affected by ‘The Passion.’ I was speaking with a friend last night who similarly can’t watch what Jesus suffered for us as shown in this movie. What I love about ‘The Passion’ is that Gibson did not give us a sanitised version of Christ’s suffering. When I am faced with the violence of it, it makes me better understand the seriousness of my sin and the extent of God’s love that He would take upon Himself the penalty for it in this kind of way. What love that we should be given eternal life as a gift that came at such a high price. Thanks for your reply and if you do see the movie, I’d love to know what you think XOX …. Rosalind, thanks for your link. The salvation prayer video was so lovely to watch – thank you and God bless.
