Inspire
Two of my dear friends are big tea-drinkers. I myself love both tea AND coffee. As far as coffee goes, there is nothing like the smell of freshly ground beans brewing in the morning kitchen, and first thing, a strong cup of coffee seems to make the world spin on the right axis, he, he
.
But what I love about tea is the variety of the beautiful-sounding flavours. From citrusy lemon, and orange and berry, to the flower teas – camomile, jasmine and dandelion; the aniseed teas – liquorice and fennel; and then there are the spearmints and peppermints; sweet vanilla and honey; and also the spices – cinnamon, rooibos and ginger. I love them all, sometimes what the aroma promises more than anything.
So anyway, I found these lovely boxes of tea for my friends. What made them extra special was that they had these verses of prose on the front; the words were just so nice. Each box of tea had its own unique theme like ‘inspiration’ or ‘happiness’ and the verses matched the theme.
As it is the New Year, and a time when some of us make plans and resolutions, I thought that noting a few of these verses might be lovely and inspiring, and give us all some ideas for the year ahead. The thing is, I am never sure whether I can post writing like this without the permission of the author. This gave me the idea of writing my own verses along similar lines. I hope these bless you and make you feel happy as you read them …
Walk in wild flowers. Walk under the stars. Think about someone you love. Laugh out loud. Laugh until your tummy hurts. Light a candle. Bake a chocolate cake. Eat a big slice. Talk with a friend. Find child-like wonder in the everyday. Swim in the ocean. Feel sand on your skin. Feel sun on your face. Dance when no one is looking. Dance when everyone is looking. Smell jasmine and lavender and pine trees. Hold hands with someone you love. Watch the sunrise. Sit by a window and watch the world. Listen to falling rain. Sit in a bath of bubbles. Lie in a feathery duvet. Bless somebody on purpose. Bless somebody in secret. Sit in the moonlight. Take time to play. Breathe deeply. Be still. Be grateful. Be inspired.

Your words have stirred and awakened my dormant creativity. Maybe now she will dance across the page and into the hearts of others again. Maybe another bookazine? Thanks, my special coffee-tea room text friend.
Enjoyed reading “Inspire”. We sometimes forget the little everyday things in life that really are so special and we need to take time to enjoy them. It is like pausing in a busy day to “smell the roses”.
Dear Tali and Shirley, So lovely to hear from you both and thanks for your comments … Tali, so happy you felt inspired, bless you XO
As always, your words are beautiful – thankyou for sharing them with us and inspiring us to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. Happy New Year my dear friend. I was thinking of you this morning and remembering the poem you wrote in my school diary many years ago about us growing old together in pots!! Very strange but it was the last line and had to rhyme! God Bless xx
To dear Em, that is so funny, I had forgotten all about that crazy poem, it was written in chemistry wasn’t it, over the bunsen burners? :)
Happy New Year to you too, thank you so much for your lovely reply. Lots of Love XO
Indeed, it’s the simple things that mean so much.
Hi brainteaser, that’s so true, I often feel that way :)
