Pictures from the Valley

It has become a tradition in my family to spend time together at a beautiful Wildlife Reserve set in an idyllic valley, just north of my home city, Wellington. My parents took us there often as children and it is something I always look forward to when I go home. So, yesterday was the day of our visit, we took a big picnic, and headed north into the valley. The photos in the post above of the swing bridge over the river and the rustic cottage in the woods, were also taken there.

Here are some scenes from the day; one of me by the river, my Dad feeding the baby goats, and this gorgeously colourful parakeet-type bird who let me get really close for some wonderful photos. He also had a pretty ferocious bite – he sunk his big beak into my finger which he seemed to prefer to the bird food I was trying to offer him :).
