Serving His Purpose?

I read a really interesting article today by Brett Harris, and the opening has been on my mind since.

“Should I ignorantly assume that the blessings I have received in way of gifting and talent, position and family, country and freedom, have been given blindly and without purpose? Should I, heedless of their potential, throw these things away for the sake of convenience?”*

Our God is deliberate. He appointed the time of our birth and has appointed the time of our death. He has placed us in this juncture of history, in our particular families, churches, workplaces and nations, for a reason. He has given us unique temperaments and talents, for a purpose.

As Christ-followers, our lives are about the Kingdom of God. Our lives are about using all that we are and have (gifts from Him) to serve Him and others. Your Kingdom come, Lord. Your will be done Matthew 6:10.

What is our response?

I am so challenged to seek Him. How can I serve You Lord with all you have entrusted to me? How can I serve You within my family, with my gifts, time and resources? How can I live deliberately for Your Kingdom, Lord, redeeming the time, because the days are evil Ephesians 5:16.

How exciting to consider that God has a job for us to do for Him with our lives. How inspiring that the particulars of our lives have been crafted by Him purposefully, and have the ultimate potential of bringing Him glory.

King of glory

  1. Hi my name is Tiffany. I agree with that. I agree with what you said. God has a purpose for everyones life. Sometimes getting to that purpose isnt always easy. God has everything, every step, and every breath of our lives all planned out. Sometime we need to be pushed out of our comfort zones to see what God wants us to do and it is not always fun. It is so rewarding to know that whatever we go through God already knows the outcome and will use it somehow to touch someone’s life whether we know it or not. Birgit keep on serving God wiht all you have and continue to let Him use you. He has huge plans for your life.

  2. Hi Tiffany, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving your comment. You have really blessed me, thank you. As you say, it is amazing to think how deliberate God is with every detail of our lives, and what an exciting thing, that He has a purpose for each of us in His plan. I was a little discouraged yesterday, and prayed about it, so I feel that God has used your comments as a source of encouragement today! Thanks so much and God bless.
