Christian - Are You Saved?

Michael and I have been dissatisfied with our walk with God for some time. We struggle with a church message that seems to major on a Christianity that is about our own personal fulfilment, health, wealth, and being all that we can be in life. Fullness of life is promised when we live in Christ, but is this the same thing as success by the world’s standards?

For me, the Bible majors on a Christianity that is about dying to ourselves and being transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. A Christianity where we are to delight ourselves in God, live for His will, and seek those who do not know Him. Where we are slaves to Christ.

Our hunger continues to grow – God, how can we be more alive to You? How can we serve Your will? What does it really mean to follow You, Jesus?

Over this time we have come across the teaching of Pastor Paul Washer. His teaching is extremely convicting, and for Michael and me, truthful and refreshing. It is helping us come face to face with the reality of Jesus, and of living for Him. I will be posting a few excerpts of Paul Washer’s teaching this week. Today’s brief message is for us Christians. The question is: how do you know that you are saved?

  1. Thankyou for posting the clip on being saved i.e. living a faith-centred life vs self centred. I find I have to remind myself about this several times a day to try and influence my actions - which I manage to alter about 20% of the time…ahh well - practice makes perfect!

  2. Hi Charls, Thanks so much for your comment. I love your heart towards God, and know exactly what you mean about the challenge of dying to self-centredness several times a day and turning to God :).I am so thankful for His grace. I find clips like this really hard-hitting and inspiring, as you say, to live a faith-centred life. God Bless XO

  3. If your church is not challenging your conscience and humbling you to your knees every Sunday, it’s time to seek another one.

  4. Thanks so much, Ruth, I completely agree. Messages like this one are hard-hitting and that can be uncomfortable, but then I find it helpful being challenged, and I appreciate the boldness of those who preach the hard stuff. I appreciate your comment, thanks.
