Early Blessings
Do you believe in ‘divine appointments’?
You know those moments where you are in the right place at the right time bumping into the right person. Where the ‘coincidence’ of it makes you smile, and you walk away knowing that it was all God.
I believe in them :) and I had one this morning.
I am still smiling about it – about God’s goodness.
Michael and I have just started doing our long river walks again after a bit of a hiatus. It was around 6am and there was pretty much no one else around, just an occasional jogger.
So there we were following the path on the riverbank under the trees, and up ahead of us I could see this man walking towards us, book in hand.
I kind of recognised him and as he got closer, I couldn’t believe it!
It was a friend who I had trained for ministry with in Oxford years and years ago!
He and his family have literally just moved to our neighbourhood to take up a placement at a local church.
It’s been years since we’ve all seen each other, and he was as amazed as us.
This is of God, he said as he took our numbers.
And I agree. Of all the places in England, in London, even, at that time in the morning?!
As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I’ve been praying for a renewed sense of vision in God. I got a sense of that scripture in Isaiah – “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland” Isaiah 43:19. Things have felt a bit stale from my end in my relationship with God, and so I LOVE this promise of newness, of adventure again with God.
And today with this early blessing of bumping into our friend, I see God restoring that adventure. That He orders our steps, and is at work in the details.
It’s now up to us to seek Him about these ‘coincidences’ and to see the new thing that He is doing.

Very Inspiring… and so true. I can’t help but count all the times this has happened. God’s goodness is unfathomable. :)
Hi frutypop, great to hear from you, thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean – God’s goodness, and the way He works these things out, is amazing! He is so great! God bless :)
Wow! Early mornings have a magical miraculous essence I think. :-)
God is so awesome! :)
Amazing…love God’s planning and timing!
Well the story of the Prophet Joseph and Jacob is a good reminder of How God has a plan for us and He establishes his plan.
The Pen of destiny has written, the Ink has dried and the pages have been collected.
But we don’t know our future.
Hi @ngie,yeah there really is something special about the early mornings :)

Hi maji6, thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I love the way we have examples from the bible to look to as encouragement, thanks.
I truly believe in divine appointments. Good things you weren’t walking with your head down. And tell me you so did NOT take that picture!!!
Hi Hope, ha, ha :) I did take the picture but not this morning though :), this is the path where we bumped into each other :).
Gods planning really is Amazing and He always establishes his will. Like Joseph..brohers pretended he was killed by a wolf, was thrown in to well, accused of trying to be indecent with the Kings wife, thrown in to prison.etc but in the end God exalts him and His name,,his cleaared, is made in chage of the economy and in the end reunited with his brothes and father Jacob..It took time but he was patient and knew God was with him all the time. Jacob hd lost his eyes in crying for his son..but he sends his shirt with his brothers to wipe over Jcobs fce and he can see again.
Amazing how the shirt features again and again in the story as well..At first his father realises when he sees the bloodied shirt that if a wolff had killed him it would have been ripped..there were no rips. Then when he is accused of trying to be indecent with the queen ..its examined and as its ripped from the behind it means he was being chased as opposed to chasing..then he sends his shirt to his father..who because of it regains his eye sight.
Yes God has plan..The people tried to destroy Jesus yet Jesus Lives.
B~I really liked the hope and excitement in this message. I have been feeling the same way concerning my relationship/walk with God recently. That it’s at a standstill and life doesn’t seem to be moving forward at all but I do know that He promises to do a new thing in us; that His mercies are brand new every single morning; that old things have passed away and behold all things have become new.
Those promises strengthen me in my weakness and motivate me to move forward in God’s plan for my life.
Love you.
