A God Story Involving Shopping

image You know those times where God does something in your life just simply to make you smile? Just simply to remind us that He is there, and that He loves us, and that He’s in the details?

I had one of these times with God last Friday, and it blew me away again about how amazing our God is.

Just to give you some background.

As some of you already know, it was my birthday recently, and a group of us met for dinner and more celebrating last Friday (I love stretching the whole birthday thing out ha, ha).

Anyway, so that afternoon I was at the High Street. I’m not really a big shopper but I thought I’d look at a couple of shops to see if I could find something nice to wear for the evening.

I didn’t see much, but thought I’d try one more shop before going home. There were a few OK things but nothing that really grabbed me. I was about to leave when this one top caught my eye. It was really lovely. Beautiful colour, nice design, really pretty. I really liked it and was holding it up against myself in the mirror, trying to decide whether I should buy it for the evening. In the end I thought I could probably find something at home. If I still really liked it after the weekend, I could come back and buy it on Monday. So I left it on the shelf, the only item that I had been tempted with.

A few hours later, I met my friends at the restaurant. Sandy-lee was the first to arrive. We gave each other a big hug and she excitedly pushed a gorgeous bag at me, “open your present!” she said.

I had been looking forward to this. Sandy-lee had sent me a text a couple of weeks before saying that she was out trying to buy me a present and wanted it to be special but wasn’t finding it easy, so she was going to pray. Later, when she eventually found her gift, she told me she was really excited about giving it to me.

So I opened the bag and peeked in.

I couldn’t believe what I saw. The same coloured material and design from the afternoon. I reached in, and pulled out the shirt.

It was the exact one I had fallen in love with a few hours earlier!

“You’re not going to believe this!” I said, and then told her the story.

It’s a little thing, but I just couldn’t believe it. It just reminded me how sovereign God is, and interested in the little details of our lives. As if He takes such delight in our delight. He is so great :). So is my dear friend :).

  9. This gave me chills!!! I agree. It is the small things that minister to me. I love gardening because I love watching the tiny seeds turn to fruit or flower. A miracle to me. God speaks to me that way.

  10. That is SO cool! Yep, isn’t it so amazing how He really does care about the little details of our lives? He watches over us everyday, and delights in making us happy, because He’s just in love with us. And that’s what people do when they’re in love!
