Sun Days
The days are beautiful and so sunny in London at the moment.
I headed out first thing this morning and walked along the river. It was just a little after dawn, maybe 5:30am (
) ( ha, ha, I’m not usually up quite as early as that, but I was trying to be very virtuous today by doing a really early class at the gym!). Anyway, I love that time of day. It’s different from any other time. It feels so clean and new. And peaceful. Like God is there, and you can hear Him better, because it is so quiet all around.
I took lots of photos. Of the light. Of the water. Of swans, and ducklings, and a pebble path. I hope to post a few more over the next few days.
I’m trying to make the most of these stunning sun days. Taking every chance to go outside for walks or to sit in the park, with friends or with a book.
Something lovely from the weekend was meeting with a friend at this park nearby, buying some coffee from the cafe there, and then sitting under the trees to spend some time with God together, and pray. It was so nice.
Anyway, I’m so thankful for these gorgeous days, and the verse from Ecclesiastes is so true, “truly the light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun” (11:7).

Beautiful!

You know, one of my favorite aspects of sunlight is that when it is shining from behind something (like in the top picture) the object fades in the brilliance of the rays. That is what I want in my life. That when people look at me that the brilliance of Christ shines so bright it is all people see. I know that I have a long way to go. So often I turn so as to draw the attention off of the Light.
I am looking forward to seeing the other pictures you took.
Oh, and thanks for the comment over on my blog. You are so sweet!
Hi Roxx
Lovely to see you, and thank you! xo

I love this @ngie, your comments are always so thoughtful. Such a beautiful thought – fading in the brilliance of Christ’s light in our lives – I love that. It reminds me of what John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease” Jn 3:30. What a privilege we have been given, what joy, to try and point to Him in some small way in our lives.
Love to you friend.
A few years ago, I sang in a southern gospel quartet at our church. We sang a beautiful song: “Wish You Were Here.” It was written as though it was from loved ones in Heaven….and what it was like up there for them. One line said something like this: “it is always sunny days.” My heart aches to go home….and to live in “sunny days” forever….
What a beautiful line Dwight, and what a beautiful hope we have
Lots of blessings to you.
Ah, love how you describe these sunny days, some of my happiest UK memories are of those wonderful summer afternoons when the sun almost never sets:)
Love your sunny banner too!:)
Aren’t the long days beautiful, Rain!
I know exactly what you mean too – there’s something really special about London in the summer!
That’s so great you like the new banner, and you even picked up on the sunny theme for summer too, yay!
