Weekend Market

It was a beautiful autumn day in London yesterday, and I spent the morning at the Borough Market. I love weekend markets, especially this one! Here are some photos of the food and displays I came across – barrels of olives, stacks of cheese, and baskets of bread; mushrooms, sun-blushed tomatoes and artichokes; berries, brownies and Turkish delight!
I love the shapes of the mushrooms, and the different colours of the tomatoes at the beginning – even yellow and orange – I’ve never seen that before. My favourite though were the displays of cheeses, the pyramids of soft cheeses and blue Stichelton. The photos are quite close-up here, so I might have to post one or two later to show how high the pyramids of cheese went, the displays were great!
If you love different kinds of food like me, I hope you enjoy these, and I’d love to know if you have any favourites
Have a lovely weekend!

mmmm… my gastric juices are working overtime here, Birgit! Lovely photos. Isn’t God’s wonderful Kaleidoscpe amazing? Thank you for bringing these to us. xxx
This looks so delicious! One day we were at our little Farmers’s Market in the city and among others got a slice of a wild mushroom, “hen of the woods”, it was so tasty. They also had great chestnuts. I love Markets, thanks for sharing this. Reminds me of the Viktualienmarkt in Munich, we were there together, remember?
Reminded me of the markets in Europe and feelings of wanting to be there!
Mmm, this made my mouth water! My favourite was the photo of the CHOCOLATE brioche and the goat’s cheese focaccia! Have you ever had the goat’s cheese salad at Valeries in London? Oh you must! (if you like goat’s cheese) it is divine!
Note to self: don’t visit Birgit’s blog before grocery shopping.
One can almost smell and taste the devine perishables! xxx
The tomatoes and olives and radishes and carrots and artichokes…WOW. I just had breakfast. I canNOT be hungry…must be gluttony. ACH!!
Beautiful pics…as always.
That’s exactly what I thought Laura – that God is so creative in the wonderful variety of foods He made for us (Gen 1:11-12)!

Yeah, I love the colours and textures of the different fruit and vegetables – as I said to Laura, I am always in awe of God’s variety in His creation! We are so blessed aren’t we? xo
