Roadside

New Zealand Road III

… when he saw him, he was moved with pity and sympathy [for him], And went to him and dressed his wounds, pouring on [them] oil and wine … and took care of him … Luke 10:33-34 Amp.

Lord, like the one who was left broken on the road, You found me. And when You saw me, You did not pass me by. I had lost my way, beaten and without hope, and you looked at me as One acquainted with sorrow (Is.53:3), as One whose love reaches to the heavens (Ps.36:5), and You came to my side. You bent down, and took my hand, and gently took me to You so that I found refuge. Refuge on that dangerous road, where the enemy comes to kill and to steal and to destroy (Jn.10:10). You held me, and soothed my wounds, so that I was healed. You gave me wine, the cup of Your covenant, and I tasted forgiveness and what it is to be loved by You. You poured oil over me and my cup runs over (Ps.23:5) still, Your Spirit with me, that I would know life, an abundance of life (Jn.10:10), and what it is to be Yours.

  1. Birgit, I love that picture. And I love that you give Him glory with it. ♥

  2. Hi Tawny, that’s lovely, thank you. That’s so great you like the photo. It was this remote road out on the coast in Hawkes Bay in New Zealand, right by the sea. It’s lovely there. I hope you’re well :) God bless xo

  3. A beautiful story about His amazing grace, just like the christmas season is also a story about His grace.

  4. Are you in New Zealand for Christmas? You must spend all your time recovering from jetlag…with oh so many trips around the world!

I am so very grateful He chooses to hold me…His love soothes my wounded heart. He is so good to me. Grace is truly amazing!

  5. So true, Rain, that God so loved us that He gave us His only Son, what amazing grace He has shown us! :) ox

Ha, ha Michelle :D We were very close to being home for Christmas but decided to stay home in London this year, and just be low-key. We both need it for lots of reasons. I’m cherishing the idea of quiet and solitude and being with God. It even snowed outside today, so we might be in for a White Christmas!!

I so relate to your words here, about His love soothing our woundedness. Nothing compares to His love.

    Love you my friend xo

  6. hmmmm… good prayer. your picture illustrates it most amazingly.
